Research Centre In Environmental and Natural Resources Law

The role of the Centre:

  • To conduct theoretical research in the field of domestic environmental and natural resources law and related subjects;
  • To conduct theoretical research in the field of EU and EEA environmental and natural resource law;
  • To conduct theoretical research in the field of international environmental and natural resource law;
  • To strengthen cooperation within the Faculty of Law and the Legal Institute, with other universities, faculties and institutes, in Iceland and in other countries and that conduct research within same subjects;
  • To introduce and publish, both in verbal and written form research conclusions in Iceland and internationally;
  • To promote the participation of masters and doctoral students in research projects and that fall under the above legal subjects;
  • To ensure research grants for students that participate in defined research project that are conducted in environmental and natural resource law;
  • To facilitate the education of masters and doctoral students, inter alia, by providing particular lectures and participation in international courses.
